Privacy policy
Stratechery Archive Sync is a personal, noncommercial tool used by its owner. It is not offered as a service to other users.
Data accessed
The tool requests the Gmail read-only scope. It searches the authorized
account for messages from email@stratechery.com and reads the
message metadata, body, and embedded images needed to create the archive.
How data is used
Gmail data is used only to identify, validate, deduplicate, convert, and store newsletter posts for the owner's personal search and Kindle reading. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or training machine-learning models.
Storage and sharing
Converted article text is stored in a private GitHub repository. Approved newsletter images are stored in the owner's Cloudflare account and may be delivered through a public Cloudflare image hostname so they render in personal reading files. OAuth credentials are stored as encrypted GitHub Actions secrets. Data is not sold or shared with advertisers. GitHub, Google, and Cloudflare process data only as infrastructure providers for this personal workflow.
Security and retention
The workflow uses least-privilege, read-only Gmail access, validates sender authentication, removes recipient and subscription-control details, and keeps the text archive private. Archived material is retained until the owner removes it. Access can be revoked at any time from the authorized Google Account's third-party connections settings.
Contact
Questions can be sent to the support address displayed on the Google OAuth consent screen.
